Shortly before reading this, I read Richard Matheson's I Am Legend. Katz takes Matheson's nuclear bomb age tale, and updates it for the 21st century.Zombie City is a bracing, fun read that lovers of Dashiell Hammett, Donald Westlake, and other great pulp writers will dig. The plot features cops, politicians, and a junkie named Solomon who try to navigate a New York-like city populated with human, zombies, and people trapped in between ("zeeps"). It is a crime story, and a political thriller.
I read it in about 6 hours, and I was sorry when I reached the end. I look forward to reading more novels by Katz.

A very fun read. Here, zombies have rights and the tension between those who want to welcome them into society and those afraid zombies will start eating brains again puts an interesting angle on the zombie genre.
